For the past 33 years Sutter Buttes Regional Land Trust, formerly known as the Middle Mountain Foundation, has enhanced conservation awareness throughout the Sutter Buttes area. After merging with the Yuba-Sutter Land Trust in 2007, the foundation expanded its efforts to address regional concerns.

We are so excited to announce we have recently received our renewed accreditation with the nationwide Land Trust Accreditation Commission, after having completed a rigorous year-long application review process that meets all national standards and practices of the Land Trust Alliance.  This recognition provides assurances to the local community that the Sutter Buttes Regional Land Trust’s conservation easement lands will be protected forever.

SBRLT is part of a network of over 450 accredited land trusts across the nation, who are committed to professional excellence and maintaining the public’s trust in its conservation work. “Renewing our accreditation shows Sutter Buttes Regional Land Trust’s ongoing commitment to permanent land conservation in Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa counties,” said Alyssa Lindman, Executive Director. “We are a stronger organization than ever for having gone through the rigorous accreditation renewal process. Our strength means special places – such as Fedora Farms and North Butte – will be protected forever, making our region an even greater place for us and our children.”

From rivers and conifer forests to oak woodlands and agricultural fields, each part of our region plays a role in supporting our diverse environment – ranging from food production and storm water filtration to wildlife habitat, scenic views and recreation.  We recognize conservation of our working and wild land resources is essential to our community’s quality of life for generations to come.  The Land Trust Accreditation helps us to ensure permanence in our conservation of open lands, ensuring they truly are protected forever.
